Celebrating the last weekend of the world famous 'Mallard's cousin 'Sir Nigel Gresley' before a £600,000 overhaul we charged our cameras and made a family trip to North Yorkshire Moors Railway for our first train journey on my favourite locomotive.
Designing some of the most beautiful and most impressive engines, including the Flying Scotsman which achieved 100mph in 1934 and the Mallard, which still holds the world record as the fastest steam locomotive in the world at an impressive 123mph. Sir Nigel Gresley the train, was named after his designer when built in 1937.
For this and many more reasons, the A4-Class locomotive is highly regarded by steam railway enthusiasts and due to its stunning design it is my personal favourite.
