Santa's Helicopter Landing - Rothwell

Whist the Reindeer are preparing for the biggest night of year, Santa gives them some valuable relaxation time as he hops into his helicopter to make an entrance at Rothwell Park.

Father Christmas arriving in a helicopter would itself be enough excitement for most children, so you can only imagine what hedonistic levels were reached by some of the Leeds Rhino fans when Ronnie Rhino also stepped out of the chopper to great spectators!

M, who is just 7 months old and who hardly sleeps, seeming enjoyed the gentle mumble of the crowd waiting for the helicopter and promptly nodded off, but confident that the wooshes of the helicopter would wake him for his first sighting of Santa, we enjoyed a hot chocolate and a mince pie.

Needless to say, he stayed asleep until a good 20 minutes after Father Christmas had landed, the helicopter had returned to the air and the majority of the crowd had left. Fortunately, this did mean that he was able to get his first glance of the St Nicolas without having to fight through the crowds. Expecting some sort of reaction of the bold bearded giant, M looked him up and down and gave nothing but a slight shrug before we left.

Practical Stuff.

Its a great morning for all ages. Parking is busy around the park, but ok. Depending on the weather, the grass can be quite muddy and their can be a long wait, so wrap up warm! (0 - 14 yrs)
