Discover great family day out events this February. With half term already upon us and Valentines day to sort, its another hectic month. Hopefully, our selected events will help keep everyone entertained!

Ice Cube 2018

Millennium Square | Leeds | 2nd – 25th February | Website
The Ice Cube, Yorkshire’s coolest wintertime attraction is back in Millennium Square in February with its undercover ice rink, visitor café and a wide range of winter-themed rides and attractions.

Dark Skies Festival

North York Moors | Yorkshire Dales | 9th – 25th February | Website
Events and activities will be taking place all over the moors, coast and Howardian Hills. As well as some of the incredibly successful events from previous years, such as stargazing at our three Dark Skies Discovery Centres, ghost walks on the coast and night vision walks with forest rangers, there’ll be a night run in Dalby Forest, night mountain bike rides at Coxwold and Sutton Bank, nocturnal nature walks, bushcraft and night photography workshops, with more amazing events to come.

Lambing Live Festival

Cannon Hall Farm | Barnsley | 10th – 25th February | Website
Join us for lambing season – one of Cannon Hall Farm’s most exciting times in the farming calendar. Our shepherds will be caring for 300 pregnant ewes who will all be having lambs over the two week holidays – and our farmers will be keeping everyone up to date with live Facebook broadcasts. We want to share the action with your family – as well as provide education and entertainment for our younger visitors. Join us and help us welcome our new lambs (and hopefully see a brand new life brought into the world) with our packed agenda.

Come and join us at this special visitor open weekend and experience the very bottom of Lock 1 on the Aire & Calder Navigation in Leeds while enjoying music, art, photography and new lock gates!

Magical Unicorn Day

Wrap up warm and prepare to be amazed! Join us for a magical day at the Farm: unicorn pony rides, treasure hunts, magical character meet and greets, workshops, unicorn pony facts, cupcake decorating and more!

Hey Diddle Diddle

Bolton Abbey | Skipton | 10th – 18th February | Website
Follow the green trail from the Cavendish Shop and solve the mystery of the dish and the spoon and discover why it is thought that the popular nursery rhyme ‘Hey Diddle Diddle’ originated at Bolton Abbey. Legend has it that Prior Moone was “diddled” over the sale of a cow by the Hey family, and the dogs either side of the West Tower, built by Prior Moone, are laughing because of this.

Jorvik Viking Festival

York | 12th – 18th February | Website
The Vikings return in Feb Half Term to help bring back to life one of the most exciting periods of the city’s history! Expect to see living history; hear engaging talks and take part in some unforgettable experiences.

Magna Mayhem

Magna | 16th – 21st February | Website
Yorkshire’s largest indoor inflatable adventure zone. Bounce, boing, jump, slide, bop and boogie for a full 75 mins of high adrenaline fun. The purpose-built indoor world of adventure is a safe environment for kids of all ages to let off steam.

Week 4 (25th February)

The Protest ARTcart

Yorkshire Sculpture Park | Wakefield | 20th February | Website
Celebrating the United Nations’ World Day of Social Justice, the ARTcart will be out and about, encouraging your family to make protest placards, and think about your right to play and be heard as you create a protest song.

Prisoners Workshop

Pontefract Castle | Pontefract | 21st February | Website
Take part in a series of fun activities inspired by their stories including craft activities inside the visitors’ centre. Explore the castle ruins on a trail around the grounds and find out where prisoners were held inside the castle, from medieval kinds to civil war soldiers.


Ecclesfield Sports Centre | Sheffield | 25th February | Website
From fantasy scenes and sci-fi goodness, through to classic LEGO® themes, with large city layouts, classic space and highly collectable sets, you’re sure to find something you enjoy. We’ll also be inspiring the next generation of LEGO modellers, hosting a large play area, filled with LEGO bricks, assisted play, colouring and creativity.
