We have been back! Read the latest post about Swithens Farm Here.
Aunty Em has come to stay and we decided to take her to our most recent discovery.
Swithens Farm in Rothwell is a great little place to visit with a baby. There are Cows, Sheep, Ponies, Pigs and Hens to point out and tiny piglets to ‘coo at!
Entrance is free, so you can excuse many of its imperfections and since we have farmers in the family, we are used to many of the hazards of a working farm. Perhaps don’t bring your new shoes or brand new baby pram if you don’t want to get them dirty!
There is a small cafe at the farm, which offers a small repertoire of burgers, baps, buns and drinks, which have more than satisfied our desire for a mid-morning builders breakfast.
It is hard to rate Swithens against other farms since it is free, its local and Little M isn’t quite old enough to be properly engaged, however, for a short excursion it has everything we need to keep ourselves entertained in the early hours of a Sunday morning.
He has also been mastering a look of deep shock and contempt for these happy go lucky farm animals!
With just a couple of sheds and a small outdoor area it isn’t huge, but it does offer the core farm animal experience along with an authentic working farm atmosphere. It is great for pointing out the various animals and feeling like we are educating our little tot.
As with most of our adventures at the moment, it is also the perfect opportunity for Little M to sleep, well aware that we can’t!

From some of the signs and building work we get the impression Swithens is going to grow bigger and bigger.
